As a people of the South Island, in the burning days of the midsummer sun, a group of hot air that is eagerly warming up has no mercy to take over, making people sweaty and miserable. Then take a look at the village of Jukkasjärvi (Jukasjarvi) in Sweden. ICEHOTEL Maybe you can eliminate your temperament. Yukasjarvi, it may not be a famous big city, and the map will not be your first choice for tourism. But this is a village named after the Sami language in the Nordic, meaning "the gathering place beside the river". It is located on the side of the Torne River, one of the largest rivers in northern Sweden. It has been a trade gathering of nearby mountain groups and river spring residents since ancient times. ICEHOTEL, built from architecture to interior space, was created in 1989 and is located 200 km north of the Swedish Arctic Circle. Each winter, the design and construction team harvests more than 1,000 tons of ice from the Torne River. Natural ice and snow, polished and carved into an original ice restaurant. In particular, these ice and snow buildings will dissolve back into the river every April of the next year. The characteristics and advantages of this "seasonal limitation" also allow ICEHOTEL's design team to create a hotel that is unrestrained every year without any scruples.

The story of the hotel begins with a beautiful accident. In 1989, the founder Yngve Bergqvist was inspired by Japanese ice sculpture art. On the river of Torne River, which formed a thick ice sheet, and two Japanese sculptors opened the experimental art workshop “ARTic Hall”. This 60-square-meter igloo has become a local theme gallery. In addition to displaying ice and snow-built art, it also provides church and wedding ceremonies. After a few winter days, it attracts many tourists to visit this lonely winter town. Now in some movie scenes. Then the snow house gradually expanded to 250 square meters, and Yngve added a small bar to become a hot spot for party parties. Visitors at a party asked if they could sleep in ARTic Hall, so ICEHOTEL officially opened in Yucasjarvi in this unexpected way.

Last December 2017 was the 28th rebirth of ICEHOTEL, which included 35 uniquely designed luxury suites, created by 36 artists from around the world, each with a different theme design. Here you can find a bed of ice and snow that is gently wrapped in flower embossing; you can also accept the Queen of the Elk, and fall asleep at the center of the light that shines through her eyes; or, if you are insecure, you can choose to lie down. The ice bed mastered by King Kong’s hands, in the setting against the snow, stole a touch of tenderness and warmth. The sleek vision and the thick and warm blanket feel, this is the magical tension of ICEHOTEL; letting "sleep on the ice" is far more comfortable than the first-time imagination.

Although in order to maintain the shape of the ice and snow, the indoor temperature must be kept at minus 5 degrees Celsius to minus 8 degrees Celsius, but for those who want to sleep well, each bed is covered with reindeer skin and equipped with a warm sleeping bag. Of course, the hotel is also thoughtfully equipped with a room called "Warm Room" which is generally made of non-ice, so that the chilly passengers can fall asleep under the warm light. If you are still undecided, you can also go to "Icebar" and drink a glass of ice-bricked wine in a bar of stacked bricks. The visual and taste are just as colorful. As for the energetic passengers, when the hotel is reopened every year, there are also many special ice sculptures created by artists and designers, waiting for the visiting travelers to stop by; or, they can go outdoors, get on the sled, and sit on the snowmobile. Open a magical journey to pursue the aurora.

I missed last year's ICEHOTEL and didn't need to be awkward. In the heat of the summer, we can still use the expectation of ice and snow to quench the hot summer heat on the head. And chase the magical aurora-like journey, close at hand, waiting for The best time to start.
